Abstract

Changes in the region are of diversified nature and looking for the leading driving forces playing the crucial role is a significant and frequently discussed issue. In the current conditions, innovation of the regions is becoming a determinant of economic development in mezzo-economic terms. Most frequently, researchers focus on recognizing one of these multidimensional phenomena. On account of the mutual relation between these economic categories, it seems appropriate to consider them jointly. The aim of the paper is to outline the increasing role of innovation in the regional development as well as to present the statistical analysis of these complex economic categories in Poland treated altogether (as pro-innovative regional development) and not, as usual, separately.
