Abstract

Shifting of the global economy center of gravity from western culture towards Asia leads to a discussion on the impact that cultural difference between countries have on the companies negotiating activities. The article presents the analysis of the cultural differences between the ASEAN countries and selected Western countries, focusing on five dimensions of culture identified by Hofstede, i.e. the distance to power, femininity and masculinity, individualism and collectivism, uncertainty avoidance as well as long-term and short-term orientation.
