Abstract
The evolution of the information society to the knowledge society justifies the use of the term information civilization. Advanced IT support of management processes and creation of new business models have become attributes of functioning and development of intelligent organizations. The aim of the article is to show the role of intelligent organizations in shaping information civilization. The considerations are illustrated by the results of research in the enterprises of the Mazowieckie and Wielkopolskie Provinces in the period 2014–2017 with references to global trends in the area of digital transformation.
