Abstract

The search for instruments enabling an increase in the effectiveness and efficiency of agricultural policy, including its environmental aspects, is more and more intense. In recent years, researchers have been analysing the characteristics of market instruments, of which auctions are particularly important. The article shows the possibilities of using auctions as an instrument for providing ecosystem services by agriculture and presents the results of research conducted so far in this field, pointing to the advantages and disadvantages of individual solutions. The analysis shows that auctions can be very cost-effective and cost-effective from an environmental point of view. However, this instrument still needs further research and detailed analysis before it can be more widely implemented in environmental practice.
