Abstract

The main questions raised in the article is the existence of individual, personal kind of an academic style. The author analyses academic texts of Aleksander Brückner and Stanisław Rospond – splendid scientists, active in the 1st half of the 20th century. The analysis of lexical, phraseological and syntactical level shows that all expressivisms, colloquialisms, ordinarities found in the texts belonged to the stylistic convention of the times. They were not connected with popular character of the texts. Individual characteristics are to be found in the range and the use of stylistic means which are beyond the linguistic canon typical for contemporary academic texts.
