Abstract

The economic, social and regulatory changes in banks’ environment have caused the continuous development of banking business models. Increasing competition has made gaining competitive advantage and satisfactory market performance more and more difficult. In this case searching for customer value as a core of business model became a necessity. Concurrently, as a result of the latest financial crisis and increase of regulatory pressure, banks’ business model should guarantee the safety of operations and market activity. Gaining these two contradictory goals requires rethinking banks’ business models. The paper presents banks’ business models that have been used so far and determinants that will influence them in the nearest future.
