Abstract

The key goal of this paper is to present and assess selected aspects of competitive strate gies applied by Polish international new ventures (INVs). The classifi cation of competitive strategies is based on M.E. Porter’s standard framework. Previous research showed that the most appropriate strategy for the fi rms of this type is clear product differentiation. The presented analysis allows to conclude that the relationship between the competitive strategy and the economic performance of Polish INVs is relatively weak. The impact of macroeconomic factors, such as, low labor costs, and advantageous exchange rate of PLN, could be responsible for this result. These factors might have outweighed the shortcomings of the inconsistent implementation of competitive strategy. Statistical analysis (regression analysis) was applied to the data set obtained through the questionnaire (CATI method) conducted among two representative groups of Polish INVs.
