Abstract

The article deals with the issue of demographic changes in Polish society, in particular with reference to the process of population ageing. The increase in the oldest age groups is unfavorable, not least because of the simple replacement of generations or the social security system. It is also a problem of living conditions and independent living for older people. The aim of the study is to assess housing conditions in Poland in terms of the needs of older people and to examine future housing needs in the context of the ageing society. It was pointed out that the dynamics of the ageing process is higher than the dynamics of improving the quality of apartments and housing conditions in Poland. On the basis of literature studies, directions of changes in the area of social policy, in particular the housing strategy, were suggested.
