(Risk areas in enterprises of creative services sector in Poland)

Abstract

The aim of the article is to identify the major areas of risk relating to the activities of service enterprises of creative sectors in Poland and later a comparison of these results to the international surveys. The CATI research was carried out on a sample of 104 design enterprises from the creative services sector in a period August-September 2017 (the research was carried out by the Marketing Research Centre INDICATOR Sp. z o.o.). The research took into account the following types of design enterprises: software – 27 entities, architecture – 26 entities, advertising agencies – 25 entities, and specialized design – 26 entities. The selection method of sampled entities was a layer drawing. The research was carried out on the business owners or managers responsible for the area of risk management, relationships with environment or innovations (from each enterprise was qualified 1 respondent). The basic risk areas in activities of enterprises belonging to the creative services sector – in the light of results of international scientific surveys – are the processes of: human resources management, knowledge management, decision-making and information management, as well as establishing relationships with cooperating entities (e.g. subcontractors). At the international scale, a relatively little space is given to the areas of financial risks and risks related to the relationships with customers. Regarding results of the CATI research to the international publications, it can be noted that Polish entrepreneurs put the main emphasis on risks in the areas of finance management, as well as market and human resources processes. Less importance, in the opinion of respondents, have the risk areas related to: regulations, scheduling process in conducted projects, location, as well as technical specificities (materials, ICT, etc.) in providing creative services.
