Abstract

Project management is a very interesting research problem due to the implemented budget perspective. Thanks to the acquired EU funds, enterprises can develop their innovative projects. The research goal was to identify how the environment of the SME sector influences the success of project activities. The research methodology was based on the use of CATI technology. The survey was conducted on a carefully specified sample size, 150 active business entities based on data from the Statistical Office. The result of the study was confirmation that the management of innovative projects is very heavily burdened with the effects of changes in the near and distant environment. The main conclusions from the research project are as follows: the factors that responded most strongly to the project implementation were: excessive bureaucracy, information chaos, high workload of employees, wrong choice of project manager, staff turnover, lack of cooperation in the project team, contractor’s bankruptcy, reimbursement of funds due to non-performance of the task, high requirements for own contribution, opposition of the local community.
