Abstract

The aim of the article is to present the assumptions of conceptualization and operationalization of the business model design process based on the assumptions of the Open Data concept. It also indicates trends in the development of this problem and their implications for shaping innovative business models. The research problem includes the identification of key determinants of the problem of shaping innovative business models based on the Open Data assumptions. The research aim of the article is to answer the question: what are the key determinants of conceptualization and operationalization of the business model design process based on the assumptions of the Open Data concept? The methodology of the study includes the identification of qualitative attributes of selected business models based on the Open Data assumptions with an indication of the key aspects of the design of these business models. The result of literature studies, research and conceptual work is the indication of modern trends in the design of business models based on the Big Data assumptions. Key findings indicate that the analysis of selected business models operating using the OGT (Open Government Data) confirms that a trend of new innovative business models supported by governments or based on their strategy of sharing large data sets has emerged. At the same time, a stream of private initiatives supporting the strategy of popularizing large data sets is being developed.
