Abstract
The Bialystok City Card, which was introduced in July 2011, has become an example of digitising the public transport sevices in Bialystok. This plastic card, which is similar to a bank card, has contributed to lowering the cost of running public transport in Bialystok. On the other hand, it enabled diversification of ticket offer without costly print and designing tickets. Most of the public transport travels within Bialystok and neighbouring boroughs is carried out with e-ticket. The card has an e-wallet feature which enables cash-free purchase of bus ticket at the ticket punch. The card can be topped- up at a Customer Service Office or online. It is a convenient way of paying for a bus fare in Bialystok. The newest feature introduced into the system in 2015 is so called Mobile Bialystok City Card, which allows for using the smartphone as the City Card.
