Abstract

In the European Union can be found examples of good practice in the development of inland waterway transport and measures to strengthen the competitive position of this mode of transport in the transport market. They are related to the development of intelligent transport systems, the implementation of financial support mechanisms, the development of intermodal transport and the reduction of external costs of transport. The experience of European countries in the functioning and development of the inland waterway transport can be a valuable help in developing and implementing model solutions for individual Member States.
