Abstract
The author of the article signals that some of civilising changes may, if used inappropriately, threaten a quality of interpersonal relationships. These hazards seem to regard especially young people, students. Contemporary forms of communication (e.g. social media) change the perception of time and space, which can make the relationships more extensive than intensive. Moreover, some consequences of consumer mentality are mechanisms of excessive repetition, a “lonely crowd” and replacing people with material items. The author places her hope in academic teachers and their mission; being not just “dealers of ideas”, but the teachers of deep, leisurely and full of questions relationships may pose a remedy to the described problem.
