Abstract

The article refers to the current migration outflow processes, which in the biggest city of Western Pomerania – Szczecin lead to a significant loss of human capital. The article presents the results of research conducted from 2009 to 2013, focused on the social perception and evaluation of the quality of life in the city. The perception of Szczecin as a place of “good life”, and actually noticing significant deficits in this aspect, is considered to be an element of the force “pushing” to emigration. The analyses of results focus on the relationship between the assessment of the opportunities for the fulfillment of life goals in Szczecin and plans related to the labor market, where the college graduates from Szczecin want to start their professional career.
