Abstract

Thanks to capitalism, a modern form of democracy has been shaped, but because its mechanisms also offer the possibility of combating capitalism itself, democracy is blocked and subjected to various manipulative activities. Medialisation consists in subordinating the policy to the requirements of the functioning of the mass media, in particular television, in order to maximally attract the attention of recipients who constitute a potential voter to selected and comfortable problems for the authorities. Public opinion polls are used to limit the role of the sovereign. As a result of various actions in a minority democracy, they can impose their will and interests on the majority of society. The ruling oligarchy, putting pressure on the poorer part of the people, calls it a crowd or a mob, and its arguments are demagogic or populist.
