Abstrakt

The thesis portrays an ideal of a Knight of Malta depicted by Fabian Birkowski (1566–1636) in two funeral sermons entitled “Kawaler maltański” and “Krzyż kawalerski”. The biographies of Bartłomiej Nowodworski and Zygmunt Śrzedziński are also presented in this part. There is a description of prefaces to the orations as well as two prints from the 17th century, which contain the texts of the sermons. In the following part of the thesis, the autor analysis the rhetorical devices of the preacher.
