Abstract

Objective – The purpose of this article is to try to identify the directions of development of financing sources taking into account both their innovation and the alternative approach to financing. Methodology – The article was based on the analysis of literature and the results of available research in the field of sources of financing activities undertaken by various types of organizational units, mainly by enterprises. On the basis of the comparative analysis, the directions of innovativeness of sources of financing were assessed. Results – Literature review shows many abuses in the interchangeable use of innovativeness of source of financing and alternative financing and chaos in the use of the above terminology. Based on the conducted analyzes, it can be noticed that in many cases (though not all) sources of financing that can be called innovative are also an alternative to the traditional financial system and constitute the main stream of development of financing sources. The most expressive features of modern, innovative ways of financing activities is the widespread use of internet technologies, basing on the community and escape from excessive legal regulations. Originality/value – The results of the considerations should be treated as a basis for a deeper discussion on the classification of funding sources and setting further directions of research on their innovation, possible constraints and conditions conducive to their formation, as well as on the associated risk.
