Abstract

Issues related to gender inequality in leadership positions are the subject of many studies, both national and international. Promoting women has its justification in numerous studies that point the benefits of female participation in management processes. The purpose of this article was to answer the question if more women are appointed to the position of CEO in companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange SA in the years 2000–2015. Furthermore, we tried to characterize the companies which in the analyzed period appointed a woman to the position of CEO. In the introduction we have conducted a review of literature on women in boards. The next step was to determine the changes in the appointments of women to the position of CEO on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. We discovered a slight increase in the succession of women in the analyzed period.
