Abstract

Purpose – Presentation of the methodology for estimating the cost of producing energy along with an analysis of the components taken into account in comparisons of different energy sources. Design/methodology/approach – Inference on the example of literature studies and verification methods on the example of practical calculations, which will allow the presentation of the effects and results of the methods used. Findings – Within the calculated cost of production of the analysis methods evaluate the effectiveness of investments in the energy sector, which allowed to show the significance and also the complexity of this issue. At the same time on the basis of the results of the cost of producing energy reference to the problems energy policy conducted by EU countries. Originality/value – Showing many of methodological problems that require further research to find optimal methods of calculating cash costs of producing electricity.
