Abstract

Purpose – the paper attempts to study the rates of return the banks shares and their internal deter-minants. Design/Methodology/Approach – used in the analysis of 25 banks in 6 European countries in the years 2006-2015. The study has examined the influence of internal factors, which allow evaluate: profitability, solvency risk and effectiveness of the bank. Due to the nature of the data it was decided to use static and dy-namic panel models. Findings – it was achieve the results concerning the return of banks’ stock prices: signif-icant factors affecting the rates of return are indicators of profitability and efficiency and the Tier 1 ratio is ir-relevant determinant. Originality/Value – study about rates of return is rarely involve the banking sector. The analysis focuses on the last 10 years, and not around the crisis period 2007–2009.
