Abstract

Purpose – the analysis of the direction and the value of support the polish SMEs in accessing the capital market Design/methodology/approach – in this article following methods were used: the descriptive method, the comparative method, and descriptive statistics techniques. Sources included the information and statistics about both The Operational Program Innovative Economy Support for SMEs (financial perspective 2007–2013) and The Operational Program Intelligent Development SME support in accessing the capital market – 4 Stock (financial perspective 2014–2020). Findings – SMEs showed relatively high interest of supporting programs. The proof for suitability of these support is the enlargement of the scope of support e.g. in the 2014–2020 SMEs can apply for support for services needed not only by equity issuing but also for debt issuing. The changes in supporting rules beginning from 2014 may affect the increase of interest among entrepreneurs but also the development of the capital market. Originality/value – the article fills in the gap in information on supporting small and medium enterprises in accessing the capital market. Moreover the paper summarizes the support granted in 2007–2013 and outlines the scope and amount of funding in 2014–2020.
