Abstract

Literature concerning real estate cycles suggest their connections with the business cycles. Because of this, an attempt has been taken to verify the suitability of the data on dwelling supply in business cycle research. The methodology of the research is based on the findings concerning the correlation between dynamics indexes of dwelling supply and the industrial production index, as well as the correlation between their breakpoints. The result of the research shows that the supply on the real estate market can be a predictor of business cycles. It also provides a basis for the incorporation of the role of real estate market into future business cycle researches.
