Abstract

Economy 4.0 is related first of all to broadly understood development and technological progress, especially in the field of IT solutions. The omnipresent technology impacts on the functioning of every market entity - from the state, through international and domestic corporations, to households. It is a known fact that a household is the oldest and the most common entity in the economy. Household members, too, on a daily basis significantly influence the functioning of the economy 4.0. Modern technologies, understood as the latest software, as well as high-class electronic equipment, accompany households in almost every age range. They also affect the relationship between households and various types of institutions, including financial ones. Are modern technologies going to make a significant impact on the relationships between people(households) and banks? Are technological achievements going to allow to eliminate bank branches completely? And what are the preferences of Polish households when it comes to the use of electronic banking? Based on conducted research, the author of the article attempts to answer these and similar questions on the functioning of households in economy 4.0.
