Abstract

The development of the internet has made it easier for tourists to find out about the place where they are planning their next trip. At the same time travelers can easily contact the service providers at the destination bypassing both travel agents and other intermediaries. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the use of various sources of information available on the Internet in the travel planning process and to determine the variety of their use depending on the characteristics of the tourists. The results of the analyzes were based on survey conducted in Krakow in 2016 among Polish tourists. The study confirmed the greatest popularity of travel portals, online travel agencies and websites of cities, regions and tourist organizations. The characteristics of respondents that determined the choice of these three sources of information were age, education and occupational status.
