Acta Politica Polonica

The journal ‘Acta Politica Polonica’ has been published since 1988 until the end of 2015 under the name Zeszyty Naukowe Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego ‘Acta Politica’).

It is the oldest political science journal of the Szczecin academic community that has been continuously published in Poland. The creator and first editor of the journal was Prof. Andrzej Głowacki. He was succeeded as an editor by Prof. US Dr. Marian Grzęda, and from 1997 to 2018 by Prof. US Dr. Janusz Mieczkowski and Prof. US Dr. Maciej Drzonek. Since 2019, the scientific editors of ‘Acta Politica Polonica’ have been Prof. US Dr. Małgorzata Kamola-Cieślik and Dr. Katarzyna Zawadzka-Witt.

Initially, the formula of Scientific Journals of the University of Szczecin ‘Acta Politica’ was intended primarily as a form of workshop for the Institute of Political Science and European Studies staff. The journal’s publications were written not only by its staff, but also by researchers from other scientific centres and practitioners from the world of politics. In 1997, under the auspices of the journal ‘Acta Politica’, an autonomous series of monographic publications called ‘Biblioteka Acta Politica’ (Acta Politica Library) was issued, which published  the latest research results and scientific analyses in the field of political science.

Thanks to numerous reviewers, young researchers would have the opportunity to improve their scientific skills and search for new forms of disseminating their research findings. The distinguished group of reviewers included Professor Andrzej Chodubski. The review committee also comprised Prof. Dr. Piotr Dobrowolski, Prof. Dr. Karol Fiedor, Prof. Dr. Jan Kantyka, Prof. Dr. Tadeusz Kotłowski, Prof. Dr. Czesław Mojsiewicz and Prof. Dr. Albert Pawłowski. As of 2019, the group of reviewers has expanded to include scientists from various research centres in Poland and Europe.

One of the commitments of the editorial board has been to present the diversity of the world of Szczecin political science, while being open to cooperation with authors from other academic contexts in Poland (e.g., Cracow, Poznan, Warsaw) and abroad (e.g., Spain, Germany, Russia).

The journal editors continue to be open to cooperation with researchers from international scientific centres, which has resulted in numerous articles by foreign authors published in the last two years in the journal.
